TAKE THAT's Artistic Director Kim Gavin Compliments The Greatest Take That Tribute Band

Posted on July 2, 2013 at 11:10 AM

"Amazing, amazing!" were just some of the words from Take That's very own Artistic Director - Kim Gavin to describe the performance of The Greatest Take That Tribute Band at one of their recent live shows!

It has long been known in the entertainment industry who tops the field in the world of tribute bands, but it is nice when acknowledgement of a groups ability comes from the very top!
Kim Gavin has been the creative vision behind some of the most innovative & inspirational performances in the world of music and live events over the last 20 years.  So it's an accolade beyond belief for the man behind the Progress Tour, The Circus Tour, and the 2012 Olympics & Paralympics Closing Ceremony to describe The Greatest Take That Tribute amongst other things as "Amazing, amazing"!

And this wasn't a flippant comment, or a one word misconstrued twitter tweet, or a band member who couldn't remember which tribute act he'd seen!  This was one of the UK's most prestigious Creative Directors & Choreographers & Take That's very own Artistic Director, present in the audience from start to finish.  Watching The Greatest Take That Tribute show and taking it upon himself to walk on stage at the end of their performance to request a microphone, before delivering an impromptu and humbling array of compliments as he addressed the audience for the sole purpose of telling them and the The Greatest exactly what he thought to them!

"What a fantastic show!  I work with the boys (the real Take That) and I'm telling you this because it's blatantly obvious to me how hard these guys have worked and studied them..........amazing, amazing!"  When asked can we quote you on that Kim, the answer was an assertive "yes you can'"!

And he didn't stop there Kim also spoke to the members of The Greatest afterwards and had the following to say to The Greatest's Mark "I can't believe how much you sounded like him"!  And to The Greatest's Gary "Gary would be astounded by the way you mimic him, you've done some serious studying haven't you"!  And to The Greatest's Robbie "That was a very acurate immitation, well done!"

Matthew Holbrook from The Greatest who plays Robbie Williams said "It really was quite  incredible"!. "We knew Kim was in the audience before we went on, but for him to get on stage and say what he did was a complete surprise to all of us, what a compliment"!

The show which took place on a summers night in June 2013, was an exclusive open air private party held near Hampton Court, Surrey for a small select number of guests.  All of whom enthusiastically participated in the 90's fancy dress theme, and with the emulated Take That dance routines which were so good Kim made a tongue in cheek joke how he should be asking for commission for seeing all of his choreography completely reproduced!

Well that's why they're called The Greatest Take That Tribute!
Thanks again Kim!

The Greatest perform at Gleneagles

Posted on December 17, 2012 at 6:30 AM

What a night!  What a show! ...and what a hotel!

The Greatest Take That Tribute Band were thrilled to perform at the world famous Gleneagles Hotel, Scotland on Saturday 15th December 2012 to a sold out audience!

The night formed part of the festive season events calendar at Gleneagles, which includes a Festival Of Fire, Snowballs at The Dormy and Christmas Markets!

The exclusive audience were definitely up for a Christmas party as The Greatest performed an hour and a half show of Take That hits from past and present!  This even included a baby grand piano for The Greatest's Gary Barlow (aka Lee) to play some of the classics on!  Encores were in order and a great show was most definitely had by all!

This is just one independent review by a member of the audience on Trip Advisor titled "Take That Tribute night was OUTSTANDING!" http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g551796-d196761-r147608688-Gleneagles_Hotel-Auchterarder_Perth_and_Kinross_Scotland.html

Thanks go to Russell Bowers at Handshake, Murray and the rest of the sound & light crew and the exceptional staff at Gleneagles!

Merry Christmas one and all!

There is only one Take That tribute band called THE GREATEST!

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 8:50 AM

It's almost a year to the day that we posted the article below, but it's happening even more now!  Although it's a compliment to the reputation that The Greatest have built up over the years it's still also frustrating that other Take That tributes feel the need to attempt to trade off of and pass off as 'The Greatest'!

Not To Be Mistaken - The Greatest Take That Tribute Band

It's not pretty and it's not clever, but as long as people aren't conned into mistakenly believing they're booking or attending a show of the real 'THE GREATEST' then it's not a problem....is it???

Okay you search the internet for a tribute group you've been recommended by a friend who saw them at a major event.  What were they called again....'the best', 'the no.1', yes that was it 'The Greatest'. If you're lucky the right and official website www.takethattributeband.com comes up first time, top of the google list, result! If not, you could be led down the garden path of a multitude of TT so called tributes who are trying to jump on the success and reputation of the UK's No.1 tribute band!

Tribute-ing an original band is one thing, but tribute to a tribute of an original band is rather a compliment, or so you may think!  There are now tribute bands to Take That who are doing just this by describing themselves as 'The Greatest' tribute to Take That, and using this term in their advertising!  It's interesting when one group can be so successful and build up such a reputation & following that other tribute bands feel the need to attempt to ambush their name.  Is work really that hard to come by? Is a lack of ability the reason they clamour to use someone elses reputation?

The Greatest go out of their way in ensuring that clients are fully aware they are a tribute band and are in no way associated with the real Take That.  They are not lookalikes but pride themselves on their renowned soundalike qualities, and ability to re-create the stage presence, persona's and magic of Take That at their recent arena tours! It is this that has them re-booked for major corporate events & outdoor festivals throughout the UK and has made them the number one band of choice for event organisers!

Slick...yes!  Professional...yes!  A cheesy tribute band...most definitely not!  Which is why when the cheese thinks they can jump on the band wagon it becomes a little infuriating!

There is only one Take That tribute band called THE GREATEST, and make no mistake about it, they are called this for a reason! So the next time you're surfing the net....please don't be mistaken!!

Royal Caribbean welcome The Greatest Take That Tribute Band!

Posted on August 23, 2012 at 12:05 AM

They described, advertisted and introduced them on the ship as The Worlds No.1, Take That Tribute Band and 'The Greatest' didn't disappoint as they proved they really do Rule The World on Royal Caribbeans 'Grandeur of the Seas'!

The 74,000 ton luxury cruise liner, which recently had a $48 million refurbishment, took in Marseille, Corsica, Naples, Sicily, Malta and Palma de Mallorca in a 7 day tour of some of the Mediterraneans most exclusive locations during August 2012.

The Greatest Take That Tribute Show were flown over to pick up the ship in Naples to perform for just one night before departing 5 days later in Palma de Majorca and what a night it was!  Two shows, lighting galore, a live 6 piece band and an ecstatic audience culminated in a night to be remembered.

The live band set list included, Back For Good, Rule The World, The Greatest Day, and many other hits as The Greatest treated the Palladium Theatre audience to a real Take That experience!

Will 'The Greatest' Take That Tribute Band be Back For Good with Royal Caribbean.............well we'll just have to wait and see, but on the strength of the response on the night, on board the ship the day after and from the quotes we've received since, I wouldn't be surprised!

Guest Quotes:

"Saw The Greatest on board Royal Caribbean cruise last week and they were fantastic, best act of the week they brought the house down. Would love to see them again very authentic!"

Trish

"My Wife, Daughter and myself went along to see "The Greatest" take that tribute band recently while aboard Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the seas and they were fantastic, so good in fact that we went along to the second performance as well! We have been on many cruise ships over the years and have seen many tribute bands on various ships and can honestly say that these guys are the best we've ever seen, so good in fact that we are driving down to Stoke on Trent this weekend to see them perform again".

Shaun

NB:  'The Greatest' Take That Tribute are NOT to be mistaken with a completely different tribute show to Take That which has performed on Royal Caribbeans Independence of the Seas with very mixed reviews.

A Night With The Greatest - Independent Review

Posted on March 7, 2012 at 7:40 AM

Here's an independent review of the show performed by The Greatest on 2nd March 2012, reported by Kim Dorset for Whats About Town.  To see the full review with images on the Whats About Town website click here.

Mass hysteria has left Essex… (for now)

Friday night, well, what can I say! I haven’t seen that many over excited ladies in Essex since Mark Wright came back from the jungle.

The Greatest were absolutely fantastic! I can honestly say they are one of the best live acts I have ever seen. As polished and talented as any successful band I have seen live, and I am a hard person to please as you all know!

I loved the way they gel as a band and have taken on their own characteristics, as well as the personalities of the member of Take That they are impersonating.

After the first song you begin to forget you are at a tribute night and actually believe that OH MY GOD ROBBIE WILLIAMS IS IN FRONT OF ME!!!!

After two or three songs, you are gone, and that IS actually MARK-FREEKIN-OWEN SINGING BABE TO US. IT IS!

What I found brilliant and slightly hilarious, was the women in the audience all have their own favourite member of The Greatest, just like they would if they were at the o2 watching TT themselves!

I can’t reveal my own personal favourite, mainly because they will read this and I will see them face to face again, I’ll save that embarrassment. I *will* say that each member was pretty damn popular with the females though!

…For example, my friend’s had popped outside for some fresh air just before ‘Robbie’ Matt Holbrook appeared. I sent one a txt as he appeared on stage and I have never witnessed them move so fast to be back in the room. I almost had to peel them off the floor after Angels.

Mark, Howard and Gary, all had a lady hanging from their leg at one time or another and also wooed us with their singing and Take That style air grabs – has to be done.

Now, there is one more guy in the band, obviously, but I am worried to mention his name here, for fear of the website going into meltdown as you girls throw yourselves at him. (Not me you understand *ahem* us here at WAT wouldn’t do anything like that… What?).

Matt Duff ‘Duffy’, *holds you all back* is the ‘Jason’ of the band and is a strong favourite of a lot of the girls, as is the real Jason Orange. He is especially popular with a friend of mine who will remain nameless. He *is* a gorgeous guy, but clearly a fantastic dancer and singer too, so get to the back of the queue!

From start to the finish all 5 guys work so hard and put their everything into the whole show.

Amazing vocals, dance routines, personalities- I cannot recommend them enough!

From meeting the fellas after the show, we could tell they were all lovely. Not at all big headed, which is quite something, as after the reactions they get from fans, they would have every right to have egos the size of Gary Barlow’s bank balance.

Matt ‘Robbie’ first put the guys together a good few years ago, after getting the right mixture of members, they formed The Greatest, things have gone from strength to strength and they are now booked almost throughout the whole year, all over the world!

All credit to the guys, they don’t just stick to the old favourites (even though we *may* have screamed just a little when they broke in Million Love Songs, but that is beside the point!).

The Greatest perform a mixture of TT’s singles and album tracks from all of the albums. Their version of SOS, was borderline better than TT’s!

I certainly had an amazing night and an extra thank you to Michelle Bradley for organising the night!

Us here at WAT intend to support the band on a regular basis now, so look out for gig updates and more.

If you want to see the band perform, or just throw yourself at your very own Mark Owen or Gary Barlow look out for their gig guide at http://www.takethattributeband.com/

You can also join the member’s area, check out their latest news or drool over Duffy’s pictures on the site.

I am going to be booking a night with the band for you guys to all attend and to support Hornchurch Animal Rescue later in the year!

So keep your eyes peeled girls, and get ready with your Take That dance moves.

“Neverrrr forget where you’re coming from…”

Not To Be Mistaken - The Greatest Take That Tribute Band

What a year so far!

Posted on September 23, 2010 at 6:50 AM

HELLOOOOOO EVERYONE!!!

Wow, what a crazy ride we've been on this year so far!!

We've performed in-front of our largest crowd to date, which was 8000 strong at Worthing Festival, supported 'Scouting For Girls' for The National Lottery, performed at Awards Ceremonies & had a few obstacles to jump over along the way... members feeling really ill before, during & after a show, our Jason forgetting his black socks (LOL!!), & me losing my voice!! Not good, but hey... we came through strong & still had our most successful year so far.

Once again, we've met some really nice people along the way & we just keep getting the most amazing receptions at each & every show, so once again thank you!!

Of course, the big news this year has been Robbie re-joining TT!! A lot of people are asking us what our plans are, so here it is... we ARE looking to recruite a Robbie next year to join 'The Greatest'. But as we pride ourselves on replicating the actual Take That, we are going to wait & see how they perform as a five piece & see how they perform the songs we all know & love, plus some new ones from the new album due for release in November. Our shows currently booked for 2011 as the 4 piece will be given the option to add Robbie (subject to availability) for an additional fee. As a result we're all very excited to be getting back into that rehearsal studio & re-arranging our show with an added element of Williams!!

We are also still going to be available as a four piece through-out next year because as we all know, not everyone is overly excited about Robbie re-joining, so for those that like the original comeback kings as a four piece... Mark, Jason, Howard & Gary can still be yours for a night!!!

Can you believe 'The Greatest' have been together now for over a year & a half!!?? Crazy, but I can't tell you how much fun we've had along the way. Some shows we've performed have even made an imprint on our memories too, making them impossible to forget, so a massive THANK YOU to all those people that are making these memories possible for us.

Got to go now, don't forget you can now follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/thegreatesttt - Add & Like us on our Official Facebook page www.facebook.com/thegreatesttakethattributeband or become a member on our members section on our official website at www.takethattributeband.com/apps/members

Till next time...

The Greatest Take That Tribute

2010 - The greatest start for 'The Greatest' Take That Tribute!

Posted on April 14, 2010 at 6:35 AM

Wow,

2010 has proven to be a very successful start of the year for us. Not only have we given the show a lick of paint with new costumes, songs & dance routines which the crowds seem to love, but we've also been lucky enough to get some of the nicest audiences yet, our website is having the most hits it's ever had, more people are following us on Twitter (Even Peter Andre is following us now!!) & the comments page has never looked so good. SO THANK YOU EVERYONE!!

Can you believe we've been together for almost a year now! My feet are still sore from 10 weeks of non-stop rehearsals back in March 2009, but i know i speak on behalf of all the boys when i say... what we've achieved, seen & heard over the past year, there's no rehearsal in the world that could have prepared us for it.

Like the real Take That, we are quickly becoming a 'Thank You' Tribute band, but we mean it every time from the bottom of our hearts... so again... thank you.

Over the next few weeks, we are going to be performing at festivals, theatres & going into a recording studio to lay down more promo tracks for you all to hear on our website.

So make sure you keep an eye out on our gig guide for shows near you, coz without you guys & girls screaming & singing along to 'The Greatest' singing your favourite Take That songs, there's no point in doing it.

Well, I've got to go, so i hope to see you at a show near you soon.

Till' next time.

What's Coming Up In 2010!

Posted on February 1, 2010 at 8:30 AM

Wow, long time no blog huh!

Sorry about the wait, Christmas was especially busy for us, touring all the way from Devon to Inverness... crazy!! But, with the festive period over for yet another year, I can get back to boring you all with my monthly blogs!! Ha!

We really didn't expect to have such an amazing 1st year, performing at celebrity do's, glamorous weddings & an 8000 strong crowd all singing 'Rule The World' at the top of their lungs at the Worthing festival... which we are so lucky to be performing at yet again this year. But the response you have all given us has been incredible, so a massive thank you for all your support & encouragement through 2009.

We are currently looking at the show & thinking about giving it a bit of a spit & polish with new tracks, costumes & dance routines, so for all the people that have already seen our show... we hope to bring you a new TT experience in 2010.

Big events for 'The Greatest' this year are performances at the Splash FM Festival alongside the worlds number one MJ tribute - Navi, & the Plymouth Pavilions on the 11th of September with our live band & being supported by the UK's most popular RW tribute - Millennuim to name but a few. One things for sure, it's gonna be the most amazing year for 'The Greatest' Take That Tribute & hopefully, if you're in the crowd, you will walk out feeling the same way TT make you feel after a show. That's our goal.

So until next time guys & girls, we hope to see you real soon & don't forget to check our Gig Guide regularly to find out when & where we are on the road.

Lee (aka Gary) x
