There were tribute bands to Kings Of Leon, Oasis, Stone Roses and Girls Aloud, at The Sounds Festival 2009 at Galashiels but you've guessed it, it was none other than The Greatest Take That Tribute who in the words of the fans and even the promoter, 'stole the show!'
Here are some of the comments left by fans:
'...Awesome'
'...best of the whole Festival'
'...absolutely blown away by the whole show'
'...you were brilliant'
'...that Mark Owen soundalike spooked me out'
'...best band there by far'
'...Went to see Take That at their Sunderland gig and thought nothing would compare to that but I was really impressed by you'
And what exactly did the promoter say?
'Awesome, you stole the show!' - Steve Cass, Event Promoter
Two of the fans at the outdoor event that took place on Saturday 27th June at the Gala Fairydew FC ground have even posted two video's on You Tube of The Greatest on the night performing 'Rule The World' and 'Shine'. Although the quality isn't too brilliant we thought you may enjoy them (please see above and below).
NB: If you've taken a video or photographs of The Greatest performing live at any of their shows please let us know. You never know we may even post them on this site!
Tuesday 19th May was Take That Day at the BBC and it was non other than The Greatest that were requested into the studio’s of both BBC Radio West Midlands and BBC Radio Nottingham to talk through the launch of their tour and what distinguishes them from all the other Take That Tribute bands out there.
BBC Radio WM was the first to interview the boys which was broadcast live in two parts between 10am and 12 midday. This included live and off the cuff acapella renditions of ‘Why
Can’t I Wake Up With You’, and ‘Everything Changes’.
During the interval the boys took a chance to sample some Latte’s in the BBC’s coffee shop where Lee (aka
Gary) met the cardboard cut out of the show’s presenter Joanne Malin and Matt (aka Howard) couldn't get off the phone - as usual!
It was then a trip back up the M42 to BBC Radio Nottingham and the John Holmes show. This also included an acapella version of ‘Why Can’t I Wake Up With You’ and a strange but
true realisation for the shows presenter that one of The Greatest is distantly related to him! To find out which one you'll have to listen to the clip!
